Yun Xiang,a painter in late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty,was one of the pioneers of Changzhou painting in late Ming Dynasty.Yun Xiang’s painting creation is mainly landscape theme,in his time,landscape painting is popular,especially Dong Qichang advocates "morale" in the late Ming Dynasty,marking "Southern and Northern Zong",which has a far-reaching impact in the painting world.In response to this,Yun reported his creative attitude of "seeking its resemblance and not being in the same place." his landscape painting was based on all of us in the Song and Yuan dynasties,first studying the governor,great,and then specialized in Ni,Huang,and formed a "thick spirit of strength" and "sparing the ink like gold." The painting style of "Yiqi vertical and horizontal".In his later years,he lived in a seclusion temple,and his life experience had a certain impact on his landscape painting creation.In addition,he has profound study,profound thinking on painting art,advocates learning tradition and in-depth views and experiences,so he can not blindly follow the times and form unique achievements.He has a clear understanding of the painting world in which he likes to write inscriptions and postscript,from which he puts forward many opinions about painting,which are profound and unique,and have very high theoretical value.After reviewing the life and writing experience of Yun Xiang’s paintings,this paper analyzes the artistic style characteristics of Yun Xiang’s paintings,and probes into the way of imitating ancient Chinese landscape painting and the formation of his personal style,combining with the artistic viewpoint put forward by Yun Xiang in the inscription of painting and postscript.As well as the evaluation of Yun Xiang painting by people and posterity,try to evaluate the artistic attainments and historical status of Yun Xiang in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty.I hope to promote the depth of the study of the painting history of this period through the further exploration of the painter and his art.
