A Study Of Proverbs In Local Chronicles In Jiangsu And Zhejiang

Chinese proverbs are huge in number,they contain different kinds of content.They are deeply rooted in national languages and cultural traditions,reflecting the local natural environment,local customs and practices and living customs.It is an important role for the study of social folklore.In Jiangsu and Zhejiang local records,there are a rich number of proverbs.These proverbs describe in detail the geography,evolution,customs,education,property,characters,places of interest,monuments and so on in Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas.By the study of the proverbs collected in Jiangsu and Zhejiang local records,we can understand the local geographical environment,property customs,etc.It helps us to analyze its development of social history.The main body of the thesis is divided into four parts:The first chapter is the classification of proverbs in Jiangsu and Zhejiang local records.Firstly,summarize the regional characteristics of the proverbs by means of classifying proverbs from different places.For example,proverbs in Suzhou often describe agricultural life.Nanjing proverbs show the its history and culture.And Hangzhou proverbs describe the prosperity of local society and economy.Secondly,the proverbs will be divided into natural proverbs and social proverbs according to the content to make textual criticisms and explanations.It mainly reflects the natural environment and social outlook of Jiangsu and Zhejiang.The second chapter is a textual research on the natural proverbs of Jiangsu and Zhejiang local records.It includes three kinds proverbs: geographical environment,meteorological phenology and property resources.These proverbs are related to geographical nouns,dialect words and colloquial words,for example,“ cao’e ”“huilongyu”“beilu”“jiju” and so one.So this paper will search literature to analyze the meaning and content,forming basis and cultural connotation.The third chapter is a textual research on the social proverbs of Jiangsu and Zhejiang local records.This chapter explains three kinds of proverbs: daily life,social phenomena and anecdotes of famous men.The examination of these proverbs will show us the daily life and historical events of the old natives.The fourth chapter is the culture study of Jiangsu and Zhejiang proverbs.The proverbs are multifarious and contain different cultural activities in different regions.Therefore,the paper will study the cultural significance of the proverbs from the aspects of material culture and spiritual culture.Material culture includes food culture and architectural culture,Further study shows that the geographical environment withdense water network in jiangsu and zhejiang has a great influence on the local diet and architecture.Spiritual culture includes folk culture and consciousness culture,It shows the people of jiangsu and zhejiang customs and inner activities.
