The Influence Of Monetary Priming And Values ??on Pro-social Behavior

To explore the influences of pro-social behavior,this study introduced value to research the influences of money priming on pro-social behavior.We hoped to understand deeply the impacts of money priming on pro-social behavior and enrich the researches on pro-social behavior.130 college students aged 18-27 were recruited to participate in the experiments.Then,this study used the instrumental part of the Rokeach Value Scale adapted by Huang Xiting to select out 80 subjects with two characteristics including moral value and competitive value.The entire study is designed in the form of 2x2 between subjects experimental design.Experiment 1 explored the influence of money picture priming on pro-social behavior.Different priming conditions and different value were used as the independent variables,dependent variable was the choice of subjects in donation task.The pro-social behavior was the willing to donate.Experiment 2 discussed touch money tokens affected pro-social behavior,different priming conditions and different value were used as the independent variable,dependent variable was the number of tokens which participants were assigned to themselves,which was a reverse measure of pro-social behavior.The results showed that,(1)on the donation task,the main effects of touching money priming and value were significant.Money picture priming could reduce the donation intention of the subjects.And there was significant difference in the effects of different value on the donation task.But the interaction between the priming condition and the value on the donation task was not significant.(2)Under the condition of picture priming,the performance of the subjects on the task of word association was not significantly correlated with their selections on donation task.(3)In the task of token allocation,the main effects of touching money priming and value were significant.Participants who touched money token would gave more tokens to themselves.And there was significant difference in the effects of different value on the pro-social behaviors.On the task of assigning tokens,the interaction between money priming and value was significant.According to the results of research,it can be found that,(1)money priming can stimulate individuals' thoughts about getting more reward.Therefore,money priming can enhance individuals' positive attitude and reduce their pro-social behavior.(2)Different types of value can influence individuals' pro-social behavior.Individuals with moral value are more likely to engage in pro-social behaviors,while individuals with competitive value are more likely to engage in self-interested behaviors.(3)The pro-social behavior is influenced by money priming and value.
