A Report On The Translation Practice Of "England In Literature: Various British Features In Modern Creation" (Chapter 2)

This is a translation project on Edward Thomas:An England of holes and corners',the second chapter of Literary Englands Versions of Englandness in Modern Writing,written by David Gervais,an British author and scholar.This part is mainly about Edward Thomas,a British writer,his adherence to the tradition of England literary—attaching importance to the life,well-being and living environment of the people of Great Britain and the accomplishment of the noble missions of the poets and arts in the preserving and inheritance of the British culture and literature.It also compares the attitudes and feelings of British writers,from the same and different eras,towards the tradition of British literature and British itself.This report discusses difficulties and strategies in translation by using typical examples,taking the Equivalence Theory as a guiding theory.The report can be divided into five chapters:the first part briefly describes the translation task,including the origin of the translation material,text characteristics,the meaning,structure and aim of this translation project.The second part is on the description of the translation process,including the pre-translation,translation process and the post-translation.The third is about the theory that the report based on,including its content and focus.The forth is the case analysis of the translation and the last is a summary of the whole task.
