The Narrative Construction Of Film And Television Script Suspense

Suspense setting is a common narrative technique in film and TV play writing.Suspense can not only enrich the narrative structure of plays,but also enhance the narrative impetus of plays in many respects,so as to promote films and television programs to accomplish their value delivery.Currently,in the field of suspense research,the theoretical cycle has made systematical and scientific exposition on the methods,mechanism and effect of suspense setting in dramas and films.With suspense as the research unit,based on the creative practice of screen play The Mist,from three logical levels of "what is","why" and "what to do",this paper analyzed the important position of suspense in the narrative construction of plays.First,comparison and overview of suspense and narrative suspense were made,and the basic meaning of suspense for films and television programs was concluded.Then,from three perspectives of narration,narrative acceptance and narrative subject,the role of suspense in narration was analyzed,and it was stressed that suspense can stimulate reading interest,enhance the efficiency of acceptance,accumulate narrative impetus,enhance dramatic properties of texts and bring receivers unique aesthetic experience.Finally,starting from the creative practice of screen play The Mist,the methods of suspense setting in film and TV plays were analyzed,including the change of narrative structure to create suspense,the change of narrative perspective to draw forth suspense,the creation of suspense in plot design and the setting of suspense through audio-visual language.This paper is just the creation exposition of film play The Mist in terms of suspense setting.
