This study uses the written language corpus of international students at Jinan University and selects the written language and language materials written by middle-and high-level international students with a total of 310,000 words according to the three levels of the initial, middle, and high levels of the Chinese language given in the corpus. It also uses Word and PHP for simple Chinese word segmentation. The software processes these corpora. On this basis,we first use the N-gram extraction function in AntConc software, and set the two indexes, which are the minimum frequency and the block length,to extract the chunk preliminarily. Then the Matlab self compiled program is used to calculate the collocation strength of the sequence of these extracted words. Finally,we use artificial intervention to make up for the defects of software extraction, and finally determine the chunking status of extracted word sequences according to the definition standard of Chinese chunk. This paper focuses on the following questions:1.What language chunks are used in the chunks used in high-level international student compositions?2.What are the factors that influence the characteristics of these chunks used by middle and high level students when writing?3.What characteristics of these lexical chunks can be used to provide guidance for high-level international students? In view of the above problems, the paper uses data statistics to analyze the extracted lexical chunks and compares them with the received chunks in the"Chinese Standard Vocabulary and Chinese Character Outline".The following conclusions are drawn:1.The use of written linguistic chunks by intermediate and high-level international students is characterized by a low level of overall use,and excessive concentration on the use of some of the more basic collocation blocks and framework idioms. In particular, collocation genres appear to be used. The number of frames and the frequency of use are both high;the number of frame-like blocks is small, but the frequency of use is high;although the number of lingo-like blocks is large, most of them show the trend of low-frequency use.2.The characteristics of the chunk itself, frequency factors, analogy and inductive strategies and language all have some influence on the use of chunks of middle and high level foreign students.3.This paper believes that students can use the methods of presenting chunks in the teaching materials, increasing learner’s chunk awareness, increasing learner’s chunk knowledge, and strengthening learner’s ability to use chunks. In summary, this study is based on actual corpus and examines the characteristics of the use of written language chunks by intermediate and senior students from a quantitative and qualitative perspective. It fills the gaps in empirical research of Chinese language chunks, and provides relevant opinions for teaching Chinese writing class.
