Exploring The Narrative Painting Of Hand Scroll

In the Song Dynasty of China and before,hand-rolled painting has been widely used as a narrative expression,which has important artistic value and historical document value.The unique art form of hand-rolled narrative painting has aroused our thinking on the space-time view of Chinese painting.Through the analysis and research of ancient hand-rolled narrative painting from theme to artistic technique,we can draw lessons from the practice of painting creation.Chinese ancient painters used many kinds of expressive methods,using a variety of artistic techniques to carry out the painting narrative,the painter can be different time,and the story of different places into a scroll,so that different time and space of people and things to a certain degree of a special relationship.This way of artistic expression makes it different from other forms of painting that narrative painting works.Therefore,the analysis and study of the representative ancient hand-rolled narrative paintings can be discussed at two levels: one is about the narrative itself,including the processing of the story,the character image and the dynamic design as well as the operating position of the picture.By analyzing,comparing and grasping the relationship between visual art and historical texts,the second is the relationship between the thought intension and the form behind the narration.By grasping the special attribute of painting space and time,the visual and psychological relationship between the abstract idea and the space-time interaction between specific historical figures and events is expressed.On the basis of this understanding,I think and practice in my own creative works "Farewell My Concubine" to express the theme of creation in various ways of space and time,combine various art forms,and further enrich the art form of hand-rolled narrative painting.From the narrative performance,the concept of communication,the spatial organization of the picture and the overall image structure and so on several aspects of the art hand-roll "narrative" in-depth study,mining the tradition,and then expand the traditional painting in today’s research and expression space.
