McDowell has created numerous works throughout his life,among which piano works were his most representative works.There are obvious romantic touches in his works,which retains strong folk flavor.For example,his “twelve dazzling skill Etudes” demonstrates such characteristics.These etudes with titles as part of piano literature should be recognized and understood by us.Unfortunately,piano etudes of McDowell did not gain stress from people.Aiming at this situation,the author chooses?Wild Jagd?,the third tune of the No.46 of McDowell's ?Twelve Dazzling Skill Etudes? as the study object of this thesis.The main problems to be solved in this paper are: grasp of the overall style of this etude with a title and rich in musical quality,and the exercise methods of key performing techniques and solutions to technical difficulties.The innovation of research lies in how to grasp musical characteristics of etudes and bring technical difficulties into musical styles for them to complement each other,so that players can understand works comprehensively and deeply,and thus guide performing better.This article will discuss above contents through three chapters separately.Chapter 1 introduces the background of McDowell's life and the main musical trend at that time,and McDowell's efforts and contributions to American music development of the same period.Chapter 2 analyzes work noumenon,tune form structure,classifies and discusses key and difficult points of the performing.Chapter 3 will combine the previous contents and explore the art style reflected in ?Wild Jagd?and the etude collection of this tune of McDowell with a title.
