This article through to Mcdowell’s personal experience of the introduction and analysis of American music background at that time, and the study of his piano divertimento "sea view", to illustrate the importance of component of Mcdowell in the music, the music industry’s unique position and Piano divertimento "Sea King" the research value, give the player a better understanding of the the first works of music image, more accurate performance of the work.In this thesis, a total of four chapters, the first chapter introduces the life and personal experience is Mcdowell, is divided into two sections, the first section is chronologically introduces Mcdowell "s life, begin from the juvenile period of music contact, followed by France to study period, Germany learning period, Boston transition period, and then to teach at Columbia University period and in later life; the second section is the influence of creation background, tells the story of the time American in industry, literature, music background. The second chapter mainly focuses on studies of the music of Mcdowell and the music style, the first section briefly describes the life of Mcdowell music creation achievements; section second mainly discusses the style characteristic of Mcdowell’s music creation, specifically the romantic features and characteristics of nationalism; the third chapter and the fourth chapter is the focus of this thesis, the third chapter is "the analysis Seaview" creative background and works, the first section discussed the whole "creation background sea view", the second section makes a concrete analysis of musical structure aspects of "sea view" divertimento in eight piano pieces, eight piano pieces is the "sea", "hymn from drifting iceberg", "sunset", "starlight", "Ballad", "in the sea", "Nautilus" and "the middle of the sea"; the fourth chapter is the analysis of the "sea view" playing techniques, divided into seven parts to elaborate, respectively is the "sea view" holistic analysis and analysis of playing techniques in rhythm rhythm, speed, strength, touches and tone colors, pedal, respiration and the expression terms. So the player can be more accurate interpretation of Mcdowell’s music, better play "sea view" the piano divertimento "harbour", in order to grasp the artistic connotation.
