Art songs are popular in the romantic period and are a gem in the long history of music.In many artistic songs,it is not uncommon for different composers to compose music from the same poem.This article deals with the composers Roger Quilter and Gerald Finzi who wrote according to William Shakespeare's poem “Come away death”.Two songs with the same word art.This article analyzes the creative background,melody,harmony,composition and piano accompaniment of the two songs,and through comparison,reveals the similarities and differences between the two in music conceiving and performance techniques.This article also gave an account of the vocal experience of the singer of the two songs,and stated the basic requirements for singing and artistic accomplishments.He hoped to interpret the songs of English art as much as possible while interpreting the two songs as accurately as possible.The general rule,and in the other hand,adds some experience for singing other art songs with the same word,and even other English art songs.
