| French film director Agnes Varda declared once in an interview:"Film involves all elements:images and sound,anything could be used to compose a method,and this method is called film." Since 1950s when Agnes Varda shot her first film La Pointe Courte,she has created over 40 works up to date.Analyzing Varda's background of film making,represent the crowed and events in the society in static way is where she good.Her films are obviously experimental,narratively characterized by soft and smooth while aggressive of woman identity,and in all possessed of a strong artistic style.This essay takes the films made by Varda from 1980s to date as research objects,and tries to study from varies angles like experimental narration,image composing and visual art expression,etc.with the method of film ontology;more over,extend the context to synchronic backgrounds to discuss the innovative experimental elements and influence in her visual art expression,and explore the breakthrough in artistic expression of films by analyzing them.In regard to Varda's films,domestic scholars summarized their styles and themes or discuss them from feminism perspective according to her identity,however further exploration of the film characteristics is seldom seen.This essay tries to extract the experimental elements in Varda's films;secondly,explore the way in which she interacts with films from narration and image style respectively.In addition,open relations between viewing space and behavior during film screening would be the focus.The exploration of experimental elements in Varda's films not only finds more practicality from filmmaking,but also opens a new dimension of thinking filmmaking. |
