Martial schools of Ming Dynasty was an important part in education system.It had important contribution for training military officers.In Ming Dynasty,military examination institution was an indispensable part of system history.It played an irreplaceable role for selection of generalship.At the same time,it had some function and influence for the society.Martial schools of Ming Dynasty mainly included capital martial schools,local martial schools and imperial academy,which trained senior officers,children.Before and after military examination of Ming Dynasty came into being,it played an important role of training military officers' children.Capital martial school was built in 1441.Nanjing martial school was built in 1443.They accompanied the Ming Dynasty until it perished.It had important influence for training senior military officers,children who were above command and under Duke,Marquis and Count.Local martial schools included local martial schools,the states and counties schools,Confucian schools and so on.Local martial schools were specially set up for training military officers' children.It were popular after 1432,but it were intermittent and had some abuses.Martial schools of Ming Dynasty eventually declined for irregularity of its system,inadaptability of the society and its corrupt nature.The rise of Ming Dynasty military examination was late.After promulgating The Law of Military Successful Candidate in the Imperial Provincial Examination and enlisting the talents of military affairs through imperial examination system in Ming Tianshun eight years(1464),its related regulations were to complete in the Hongzhi and Zhengde period,and established the examination time and the two-level system of examination,and formulated the rules of military examination.Ming Dynasty military examination was gradual development and perfection in the Jiajing and Wanli period,and established more detailed regulations of examination than before,admitting military talents from different places.It was further improved in the Tianqi and Chongzhen period,creating the palace examination system of military examination.In Ming Dynasty,military examination institution was intermittent,accompanied government,its admission criteria changed with time and society between 200 years.So its stipulation and operation had difference.It highlighted military examination of Ming Dynasty had characteristic and problems of the society.Military examination of Ming Dynasty borderland and hinterland admission condition and "borderland three and hinterland two" stipulation were different.At the same time,in different place,enrolling military officers according to the demand of fight,South and Dao.There were many reasons led to the decline of the military examination with the demise of Ming Dynasty,such as the multi-path access,too many admission and the low states.In the end,martial schools and military examination of Ming Dynasty were similar intermittent.Their status and effect were mutual supplement and influence.They had both positive and negative influence,and also provided reference for martial schools and military examination of Qing Dynasty.
