Purpose: By collecting the cases of inpatients in dermatology ward of Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of traditional Chinese medicine, this paper summarizes the pathogenesis and treatment methods of herpes zoster, and provides reference for further optimizing the treatment scheme of herpes zoster.Materials and methods: By reviewing the cases,we collected the cases of herpes zoster in the dermatology ward of the Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of traditional Chinese medicine from July 2018 to June 2019,the patient data were recorded and the database was established, mainly including: general information(inpatient number, family name, gender, age, past history, etc.);clinical information(season of onset and solar term, first symptom, the location of skin lesions and the distribution of meridians, tongue coating and pulse, laboratory examination, etc.);therapeutic drugs(traditional Chinese medicine decoction,Chinese patent medicine, western medicine use, external treatment, etc.);curative effects(length of stay, scab time, time of obvious pain relief, skin damage score before and after treatment, pain score before and after treatment,etc.).Result: 1.General data: 335 cases were recorded, including 128 males and 207 females, with a male to female ratio of 1:1.6,and more females than males.Age range from 23 to 90.The average age is(62.09 ± 12.89),and the age group with the largest number of people is 61-70 years old.57.9% of the patients had at least one chronic basic disease and most of which were hypertension, diabetes and coronary heart disease. Most patients get VZ for the first time.2.Clinical data: VZ occurs in four seasons, most in autumn, accounting for 28.3%;onset;the onset solar terms are in the beginning of winter and autumn, accounting for 6.6%;rash and pain occuring at the same time is the most common first symptoms, accounting for 50.4%;chest is the most affected part, accounting for 14.1%;Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian of Foot is the most damaged meridians, accounting for 22.3%.Most of the patients were red tongue proper(94.9%),yellow tongue coating(51.3%),slippery pulse(64.2%)and Immune dysfunction(92.8%)3.Treatment: all patients were treated with the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine. The treatment of traditional Chinese medicine includes traditional Chinese herbal soup and Chinese patent drug,The treatment of Western medicine includes antiviral drugs, analgesics, neurotrophic drugs, immunomodulators, glucocorticoids, and combined with external treatment and characteristic therapy.4.Efficacy: in this study,335 patients were hospitalized for an average of(10.64 ± 1.77)days,scab for an average of(6.35 ± 1.45)days,and pain relief for an average of(8.28 ± 2.13)days.The time of hospitalization, scab formation and pain relief were positively correlated with age. After treatment, the scores of skin lesions and pain were(6.30 ± 1.44)and(7.04 ± 0.19)and significantly lower than before treatment. In this study,8 cases were cured,202 cases were effective,115 cases were effective and 10 cases were ineffective. The total effective rate was 97%.Conclusion: 1.In this study, the main inpatients were the elderly, more women than men. Most patients have one or more chronic underlying diseases.2.The most common part is the chest, and the most common meridian is foot Shaoyang bile channel.3.The traditional Chinese medicine treatment is mainly for clearing heat, promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis and relieving pain. The traditional Chinese medicine is mainly for bitter and cold, and the traditional Chinese medicine is mainly for liver and heart meridian.4.The combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine can effectively relieve the symptoms of skin lesions, promote the healing of skin lesions, and reduce the degree and duration of pain. The prognosis of this disease is good, but the older the patient is,the more time it takes for the skin lesions to recover and the pain to get better. Therefore, for the older patients, the hospital stay can be appropriately prolonged.
