The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council issued the Outline of the "Healthy China" 2030 Plan, stating that "the promotion of healthy lifestyles for all, starting from childhood, popularizing health science knowledge, and cultivating good living behaviors and habits." Adolescents are an important stage from childhood to adulthood, which is a crucial period for the development of life behaviors and habits. However, the problem of adolescent health risk behaviors has become a hot issue to the society. The problem of adolescent health risk behaviors not only affects their current life, but also extends to their adulthood, their life courseand quality of life willhave a serious impact. At the same time,as a backup force for the high-quality and rapid development of the national economy, young people’s health risk behavior problems will also have negative consequences for the national economy development. The cognitive ability of the human brain is a key factor for coordination and behavioral decision-making.The development of cognitive control ability in adolescent cognitive systems is an important factor leading to the occurrence of adolescent health risk behaviors.Reviewing the existing literature, most studies focus on the health risk behaviors of adolescents in four aspects:adolescents’ families, schools, peers, and individual psychology. There are few studies on adolescents’ cognitive abilities, and the research contents of adolescent health risk behaviors, there is a lack of empirical research linking adolescent cognitive abilities and health risk behaviors together. Therefore, based on the cognitive behavior theory of behavioral theory and problem beha-vior theory, this study uses the statistical analysis method to analyze the correlation between adolescents’ cognitive ability and health risk behavior. In order to explore a series of issues related to solve adolescent health risk behaviors,it provides empirical reference and policy recommendations, which are of great significance and value. In order to achieve this research goal, this study is based on the China Education Panel Survey(CEPS)data. The country randomly selected 448 classes in 112 primary schools in 28 county-level units, and 8028 students.Questionnaire surveys were conducted for all sample students,parent/guardian,teachers,and principals.Based on the survey data, firstly, describe the status of adolescent health risk behaviors and cognitive ability;Second, the OLS regression model was used to analyze the relationship between the cognitive ability of the adolescents in the 2014-2015 school year and the overall and various types of health-risk behaviors, including fighting, smoking and drinking, bullying classmates, going to Internet cafes, and early love.Correlation analysis was performed using propensity score matching(PSM),cognitive ability in the 2013-2014 school year, and health risk behavior in the 2014-2015 school year to solve the endogenous problem in OLS regression. The standardized math score was used as another variable of cognitive ability measurement to test the robustness of the results. Finally, the heterogeneity analysis method was used to analyze the influence mechanism of adolescent cognitive ability on health risk behaviors.Through the above descriptive and relevant research, the following conclusions are drawn.First, adolescent health risk behavior problems are widespread,36.55%of adolescents have health risk behaviors,20.99%of adolescents have one kind health risk behavior, and 15.56%of adolescents have more than one kind health risk behaviors.Fighting, going to Internet cafe games hall, and puppy love have become highest incidence of adolescent health risk behaviors.Second, the cognitive ability of adolescents is insufficient, the average cognitive ability score of low cognitive ability adolescents is 0.22,and the cognitive ability score of middle and high cognitive ability adolescents is 0.599 and there are differences in different characteristic groups. The cognitive ability scores of adolescents with health risk behaviors are 0.15±0.02,and the cognitive ability scores of adolescents without health risk behaviors are 0.45±0.01.The cognitive ability scores of adolescents who are fighting、bullying classmetes、smoking and drinkings goingto Internet cafe games hall and puppy love were lower than those who did not.Third:there is a negative correlation between adolescents’ cognitive ability and health risk behaviors.Multivariate linear OLS regression results found that adolescents’ low cognitive ability is a risk factor for health risk behaviors. The lower the adolescents’ cognitive ability score, the higher the risk of health risks. The higher the impact on fighting each type of health-risk behavior, bullying classmates, smoking and drinking, going to the internet cafe games hall, and having early love have the same effect.Fourth, cognitive ability has different influences on different traits of adolescents. The influence of cognitive ability on boys’ health risk behaviors is greater than that of girls’ health risk behaviors.Cognitive ability has a greater impact on adolescents with low emotional stability than on adolescents with high emotional stability. Finally, according to the above research conclusions, the author puts forward the following suggestions for the issue of adolescent health risk behaviors:(1)Pay attention to focus groups of adolescent health risk behaviors, complete a monitoring network for adolescent health risk behaviors in China.(2)Pay attention to the development of low cognitive adolescents and individual cognitive ability are from the source of life.(3)Pay attention to the status and effect of families and schools in the prevention of adolescent health risk behaviors, create a positive family atmosphere, give children reasonable education expectations, pay attention to students make friends and mental health.
