Observation Of The Clinical Efficacy Of Danhuangmingmu Decoction Combined With Laser In The Treatment Of Diabetic Retinopathy

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Danhuang Mingmu Decoction combined with laser treatment on diabetic retinopathy(DR).Methods: Forty-three patients(80 eyes)with diabetic retinopathy(DR)diagnosed as yin deficiency,internal heat,and blood stasis type in the Department of Ophthalmology,the First Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were randomly divided into control group and observation group.Among them,22 cases were in the control group(40 eyes)and 21 cases were in the observation group(40 eyes).The control group was only treated with laser treatment.The observation group was treated with Danhuang Mingmu Decoction on the basis of the control group.The best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),central macular thickness(CMT),fluorescein fundus angiography(FFA)examination results and clinical symptoms scores of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)were used as observation indicators for comparison Differences between the two groups before and after treatment.Results:(1)Before treatment,there was no statistically significant difference in BCVA,CMT,FFA examination results and clinical symptom scores of TCM between the two groups(P>0.05).(2)After 1month of treatment,the BCVA,CMT,FFA examination results of the two groups and the clinical symptom scores of TCM of the observation group were improved compared with before treatment,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).However,the clinical symptom scores of TCM after 1 month of treatment in the control group were not statistically different from th at before treatment(P<0.05).Compared between the two groups,thedifferences in BCVA,CMT,and clinical symptom scores of TCM were statistically significant(P<0.05),while the differences in FFA examination results were not statistically significant(P>0.05).(3)After 3 months of treatment,the BCVA,CMT,FFA examination results of the two groups and clinical symptom scores of TCM of the observation group were significantly improved compared with before treatment,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),the clinical symptom scores of TCM after 3 months of treatment in the control group were still not statistically different from that before treatment(P>0.05).Compared between the two groups,the differences between the BCVA,CMT,FFA examination results and clinical symptom scores of TCM were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion: Danhuang Mingmu Decoction combined with laser treatment of yin deficiency,internal heat,and blood stasis type DR can improve patients ' vision,reduce macular edema,promote the absorption of retinal hemorrhage and exudation,eliminate neovascularization,reduce retinal microhemangioma and non-perfused area,improve patients' TCM clinical symptoms.And its efficacy is better than using only laser treatment.
