Original thinking of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)is the essential combination of TCM theory and clinical practice, stemming from traditional Chinese culture and ancient philosophy. This research did a survey among TCM postgraduates by using the questionnaire made by professors in the group of TCM original thinking project.Based on various statistic methods, this research could weigh the cognitive level of these students towards TCM original thinking, and find out their distinctions on the cognition and the reasons caused that, looking forwards to offering some advice to the cultivation and inheritance of this thinking.Objects:Deepen the practical research of TCM original thinking;investigate he cognitive level of postgraduates towards TCM original thinking;discuss what factors cause these distinctions;try to change these distinctions and offer some advice to the cultivation of students' TCM original thinking.Contents and methods:Material and data source:launch the survey among TCM postgraduates in Beijing by using the questionnaire made professors in the group of TCM original thinking project;collect their fundamental information, like gender, age, grade, type of major, campus of graduation and majors in undergraduate period, etc.Material and data management:According to the including and excluding criteria in this research,410 samples' questionnaire have been selected, then a data base has been established after converting the answers to scores.Statistical analyses methods:Descriptive statistics for overall means;non-parametric test for finding out the overall cognitive distinction in different parts of this questionnaire, and dividing these background information into analyzing group to figure out whether different factors can influence these parts;chi-square test for the examination of specific questions based on different factor groups and the reasons that lead to the distinction;factor analysis for seeking the potential factors within the six parts of this questionnaire, summarizing thinking characteristics of TCM postgraduates.Result:(1)From the whole point of view,TCM postgraduates mainly focus on those questions related to clinical practice and emphases of basic theories, instead of abstract or unimportant theories of teaching.(2)When it comes to background information, major type of postgraduates stands out.In the Thinking of Number,Unity of Body and Spirit and Qi,and Classification parts plus the whole questionnaire,it illustrates that clinical postgraduates hold a higher cognitive level than academic ones. While in the part of Yin-yang and Five Elements, gender becomes the influential factor that indicates females think higher than males.(3)From the specific questions of respective parts,it shows that postgraduate major type and major in undergraduate period impact on the results a lot.Still clinical postgraduates hold a higher cognitive level than academic ones, and students who were TCM major when they were undergradutes have a better understanding than thoses of other majors.(4)After digging the potential relations among the six parts,a "5+1" classification model comes into being, which puts Phenomena,Number,Body and Spirit and Qi,Yin-yang and Five Elements and Classification all together, and leaves the unconventional thinking alone. That includes the original thinking model of "application of Phenomena and Numbers, unity of body and spirit and holism of Qi" proposed by Professor Wang Qi.Conclusion:TCM postgraduates mainly focus on those questions related to clinical practice and emphases of basic theories. They basically process these crucial concepts of TCM original thinking, while the cognitive distinctions are chiefly caused by majors of postgraduates and undergraduate periods.
