Objective:To investigate the characteristics of P300 latency and amplitude and cognitive function status in alcohol dependent patients with aggressive behavior.METHODS: A case-control study was performed using an event-related potential analyzer(MEB9200K,Japan Optoelectronics Corporation)and an RBANS scale for 40 patients with alcohol dependence with or without aggressive behavior and 40 healthy controls. The latency and amplitude of P300 in each group were compared. And differences in cognitive function.RESULTS: Compared with the normal control group, the latency of P300 in alcohol dependence group with or without aggressive behavior was prolonged and the amplitude was decreased. The difference was significant. There was no significant difference in the latency of P300 in alcohol dependence group with aggressive behavior compared with the group without aggressiveness, but the amplitude decreased more significantly. The results of RBANS showed that compared with the group without aggressive behavior, the alcohol dependence group with aggressive behavior was Impairments in immediate memory and attentional functions are more pronounced. Conclusions: The P300 amplitude of alcoholic dependent persons with aggressive behaviors is lower than that of alcoholic dependent individuals with aggressive behaviors. The impairment of immediate memory and attentional function is more obvious, suggesting that cognitive function impairment is more serious.
