Pixar Animation Derivative Design Research

Pixar Animation Studio is one of the most iconic animation studios in the United States for its unique style,inspiration and personality of characters.Every individual character animated by Pixar is vivid and of huge commercial value.Pixar animation studio has been succeeded in the intensively competitive market of America,which means a significant lesson for Chinese animation corporations to learn in their founding and development.By using case analysis method,this paper is going to study a large number of cases about the design and development of animation derivatives and try to analyze some design rules and methods of Pixar animation deriv atives so as to get a theoretical framework suitable for Chinese animation derivatives,and finally,to provide some references and new ideas for the research and development of Chinese animation derivatives.The paper is divided into five chapters.The fi rst chapter is the introduction to the research background,purpose and significance as well as the research status at home and abroad,the main framework and methods of th is paper.The second chapter is the introduction to animation derivatives including its concept,formation,types,its relationship with animation and its role.The third chapter focuses on the business model of Pixar animation derivatives from three aspects of its product,connotation and brand,and finally explains the importance of dev eloping animation derivatives.In the fourth chapter,I would like to analyze and summarize the relevant design principles,methods and forms from Pixar animation derivatives.In the fifth chapter,I would like to share what I’ve learned from the design of Pixar animation derivatives,then set forth the trend of design of China animation derivatives according to the current situation of China animation derivatives.
