There is a violent impact on all walks of life in the digital information age.The informative function of the building itself is beyond any of the previous times.And it causes the energy interweaving,information dissemination,and interaction of people inside and outside the place while all these phenomenon growing increasingly.Form the terminology system passing by mouth to mouth in the initial stage to digital media today,the development of media,the rise of mass media culture and consumerism,the progress of science and technology all these promoted the production and development of media architecture.In recent years,with the deepening of urban construction in China,the aging of some old city commercial districts and the decline of social vitality have increasingly surfaced.The city has greatly expanded to the periphery.Many cities have built one after another,"New City" center.The"New City"center has massed a large amount of cash flow and has built a number of complexes.At the same time,the old city commercial district lost its original attraction gradually.Dilapidation and recession appear.The issues of urban renewal and rejuvenation came into being.With the advancement and development of science and technology in the era,media architecture has played an influential role from the layout of the architectural skin to the separation of the interior space,from self-presentation,passive acceptance by people to interaction with people.Using epidermis as a medium,or combining physically real space and informationized virtual space to achieve interaction and communication between participants and the outside world by using digital,informatized symbolic languages.These media construction methods will play a role in creating space in the old city commercial districts and vitality regeneration.This paper expounds the media of architecture beginning with the concept of media,and analyzes media architecture in three clews which are media architecture with time as axis,media architecture with material and technology as the clue,media architecture with spatial experience as the deductive path.At the same time,I outline the current situation of media architecture with construction example.Then,a case study was conducted on the old city commercial districts.There are Beijing Dashilan,Chengdu Daci Temple District,and Fuzhou Three Lanes and Seven Alleys.The factors influencing the vitality of the commercial districts in the Old City were summarized,and another possibility of the development of the commercial districts in the Old City was proposed-The rejuvenation combining the old and the new.The paper expounds the advantages of media architectural design in the rejuvenation of the vibrancy of the old city commercial district from the three aspects of enriching participation?enhancing interactivity,restoration the dificult-to-restore,easy-to-manufacture events?attracting the public.Then,the paper summarizes how the media architecture design is applied to the rejuven ation of the commercial district in the old city from the application of the external environment of the building,the application of the building skin,and the application of the interior space of the building.Related technical support is the solid foundation for all this.Finally,take the B4?C2?C4 plots of the North Xiaoshun Hutong in Beijing Front Door District as the object of design.The corresponding facades,public spaces,and exhibition halls are selected for media architectural design setting out from the three aspects in outside environment of the construction,the architectural skin,and the interior space of the construction.By doing all these complete the actual case design research of rejuvenation of the old city commercial district from the perspective of media architecture.
