Research On Grey Space Of Henan Traditional Houses

As one of the four ancient civilizations in the world,China has nurtured thousands of years of splendid history and culture with the Chinese civilization as its origin and the Chinese culture as its foundation.It is because of China’s long history,rich cultural heritage,diverse ethnic characteristics and natural conditions that architectural diversity is created,which is more reflected in traditional residential buildings.However,in traditional Chinese dwellings,the use of gray space has been quite common and mature.Even in the garden can be seen everywhere.As one of the major provinces in China,Henan province has a large population density and diverse types of residential buildings,which bear the local living culture and contain rich forms of gray space.The gates,courtyards,verandas and eaves galleries in traditional Chinese dwellings are all typical gray spaces.These spaces have different functions in our traditional folk dwellings.Although the gray space is not the main architectural space in the traditional sense,the existence of these spaces makes the architectural space more relaxing and rhythmic,and enriches the architectural space level.In addition,gray space is also a place for people to relax and place their spiritual sustenance.In today’s society full of pressure,people’s requirements on architecture should not only stay at the level of function,but also pay more attention to people’s spiritual level.Therefore,we should pay more attention to the function and value of gray space.This paper takes Kaifeng,Luoyang,Xuchang and other places around Zhengzhou as examples to explore the traditional folk houses in Henan province.First of all,in the first chapter of this paper,the research background of gray space in traditional folk houses is elaborated,some problems in the development of architecture are pointed out,the research purpose is explained and the research significance is explained from both theoretical and practical aspects,as well as the relevant concepts and research scope are defined.Of course,these researches are inseparable from the support of theories and research methods and it is very important to master the relevant research trends at home and abroad.Therefore,this paper will analyze and summarize the relevant research trends at home and abroad,list the research methods and framework and lay a scientific foundation for this paper.Secondly,this paper explores the influencing factors of gray space form of traditional folk houses in Henan province with investigation examples,that is,the relationship between gray space and material and non-material environment in traditional folk houses in Henan province.Based on the influencing factors,this paper analyzes the transition space types,composition elements and spatial combination relations of typical traditional folk dwellings in Henan province.Through the above analysis and induction,combined with examples and drawing graphics,this paper summarizes and analyzes the construction concept of gray space of traditional folk houses in Henan province.Finally,combining with relevant examples and design applications,this paper discusses the continuation and innovation of contemporary architecture on the construction concept and value of gray space in traditional folk houses in Henan province.
