Research On The Design Of Growable Children's Furniture

This paper mainly focuses on how to design children's furniture that can “grow up”with children.Taking the problems in current children's furniture market and different characteristics of each phases in children's growing up into consideration,this paper discusses the necessity of children's furniture design with a view to the present child-rearing environment,trying to make for children's healthy growth and resource conservation.In our country,most of the children's furniture enterprises are small and medium-sized.The limited fund and ability to design give rise to the inadequate product development.Meanwhile,the intense competition of children's furniture market makes the enterprises focus heavily on gaining market share while the product development is overlooked.Thus,the children's furniture design of our country often follows the design of common furniture or the children's furniture of foreign countries.The characteristics of children's psychology and physiology are often ignored.In order to solve this problem,the paper puts forward the conception of “growing” furniture for children.Taking the child-rearing situation in our country into account,this paper analyzes different characteristic of each phases in children's growing-up and discusses the importance,fundamental and methods of designing “growing” furniture for children.The on-going changes of children's psychology and physiology decide that children's furniture can't be so fixed and changeless as common furniture.It should be flexible enough to meet the changing demands in safety,space,decoration and function over children's growing-up.And that is the “growing” furniture for children.This paper expounds the design of“growing” furniture for children from six aspects.It introduces the idea of the “growing”furniture for children and bring forward that “building block” and intelligent technology should be considered in the design of “growing” furniture for children.In the end,this paper displays some good designs of “growing” furniture for children.the design case is not only meet the needs of the child's physical and mental,but also the development of children's intelligence and cultivate children play an important guiding role in aspects of independence,That fully reflects the comprehensive care forchildren's physical and mental development.
