Let The Map Tell The Story-data Visualization Map Research In The Information Age

With the rapid development of traffic and communication technology and the deepening of globalization,the connection between the world is becomingmore and more closely connected.The way that ordinary people perceive theworld is changing.Map,as a tool for human understanding and understandingof the world,has undergone long-term development and evolution.Its form andcontent are also changing:from space to time dimension;from geographicalrelations to political,economic and cultural development.However,in themodern information age,the amount of information that the traditional mapsbear is difficult to meet the needs of the readers.Based on this point,underthe guidance of semiotics and iconology methodology,this paper analyzes mapbased data visualization and its cases,and proposes the design principlesand methods of map data visualization combined with the types andcharacteristics of existing map symbols.On the basis of respecting the symbolof reservation,we should fully consider the reader' s viewing habits andpursue the unity of technology and art.Let the map use the visual languageto tell the reader about the data and the story behind the data.It providesa reference and direction for the visualization design of the future map data.
