In this innovation of knowledge and economy era,knowledge has become an important factor in enterprise development while knowledge workers as knowledge carriers have become the core of human resource management.Many companies are facing serious challenges regarding the management of knowledge workers nowadays.Knowledge workers are based on metal works that the results are hardly to be measured or the work process to be supervised.Furthermore,they are strongly independent and flexible.Hence,it becomes a key topic of how to attract and keep the excellent knowledge workers and how to stimulate their initiatives and creativity toward work as well as how to dig their potentiality and enhance their loyalty ultimately.Company A is a traditional state-owned enterprise who is mainly engaged in container handling(including the barge),warehousing,harbor barge,storage and loading & unloading as well as other services.It has got marvelous results on the management innovation since the enterprise reform.However,with the rapid development of enterprises and the increasingly fierce competition in the shipping industry recently coupled with the effect of traditional state-owned enterprises deeply rooted in the incentive management,the deficiency of the incentive management appears gradually.It caused the decline of the workers' satisfactory and positivity to the company which lead to serious brain drain that affect the normal operation and development of enterprise badly.More and more management experts,academics and business managers have joined the ranks of research on the incentive of knowledge workers since the 21 th century.Thus,this paper chooses one of the traditional state-owned enterprises – Company A's knowledge workers as the object to start with their demand.By studying the incentive theory,related literature and research results from domestic and overseas regarding knowledge workers,firstly,it elaborates the research background,significance and literature review of the incentive management of knowledge workers in the enterprise while lists the research ideas,methods and overall frame structure of this paper.Then the basic situation of Company A was introduced and emphasized the current incentive management of knowledge workers in Company A.Followed by the generation of the factor model based on Maslow's theory of need hierarchy as the diagnostic tool,combined with the questionnaire survey and the depth interview,the existing problems about current incentive management of knowledge workers in Company A were diagnosed and analyzed.In order to fully mobilize the enthusiasm of knowledge workers and reduce the turnover rate of staff and improve the effectiveness as well as to provide some references to other state-owned enterprises in the incentive management,a certain suggestions on how to optimize the incentive mechanism of the knowledge workers and management of Company A were presented at last.
