Rural electricians,whose main duty is to maintain the electric power distribution in rural areas,mostly hold rural household registrations as well.Making great contributions to the construction of socialist new countryside,almost all of these rural electricians are hired by electric service companies of close relationship with local State Grid branches.Although on the payroll of State Grid branches,these local electricians working in rural areas do not sign contracts directly with the State Grid,but with the affiliated local electric service companies.Whether rural electricians can perform well on job means a lot to the quality of electric service and influences customers' judge on State Grid.However,born in rural areas or even far countryside,and with low level educational background and inadequate professional training,these rural electricians have long failed to meet the expectations we have for trustworthy professionals,thus unfulfilling the requirements of modern customers and the economic development of “New Countryside”.The past few years have witnessed changes in customers' requirements and rural electricians' service awareness,as to which State Grid and its affiliated electric service companies have paid more attention to electrician training and develop some highly-effective certificate programs and training series.Though achieving a certain degree of success,current rural electrician training system,according to recent surveys,still has its drawbacks: 1)most of the training programs focus more on knowledge delivery than on on-stie training and mock practice;2)there is a lack of diversity in teaching methods,and most teachers and trainers find no ways to improve class interaction;3)qualified teachers and trainers for rural electricians are in short supply,thus leaving most training centers stuck in the making-bricks-with-no-straw dilemma;4)most training centers are not well-equipped enough;5)no teacher & trainer performance evaluation system has been established in most rural electrician training centers,leaving both “teachers and students” not encouraged enough.Based on all mentioned above,this essay combs through profession-training theories both nationwide and worldwide to build up a sold theoretical foundation,and takes State Grid branch in the city of QHD as the major research subject.During the research,documents and statistical information are collected and rural electricians interviewed.By comparing the attitudes and performance of rural electricians in QHD State Grid branch before and after the training sessions,we take further steps in offering advices on how to improve its rural electrician training system.And the advices include but are not limited to recruit more qualified teachers & trainers,improve training program design,evolve teaching methods and select the most appropriate and efficient ones,introduce performance evaluation system for teachers & trainers.Taking the result of the study into account,the essay indicates taking more pragmatic approaches and setting up a new local electrician training system,with the aid of which we are getting more professional and trustworthy rural electricians in the future.
