With the continuous development of the tourism industry and continuous improvement of the people's living standards,tourists are increasingly demanding on the quality of tourist destinations,tourism activities and various modes of travel.Through the continuous development of tourism in recent years,tourism has become a pillar industry in Laos service industry,creating huge foreign exchange revenue and bringing great benefits to the society.Due to the great contribution of tourism,Laos neighboring countries all attach importance to the development of tourism,add the tourism resources and culture are very similar,which makes the competition of the tourism market more and more fierce.Therefore,this dissertation takes "Study on the Competitiveness of Tourism in Laos-Based on the Comparison with Thailand,Myanmar and Vietnam" as the topic.By reading a large amount of literature and collecting information about the tourism in Laos,Thailand,Myanmar and Vietnam,as well as relevant information of tourism industry,put forward the current situation of tourism development in various countries,the competitive advantage of Laos,and promote the tourism industry in Laos to go further in the fierce competition.This article analyzes the tourism industry in Laos,Thailand,Myanmar and Vietnam with the SWOT method.It studies the advantages,disadvantages,opportunities and challenges in the development of the tourism industry.Also through the revealed comparative advantage index(RCA)method,the export value of tourism commodity and service export value compared with the world average to compare the competitiveness of Laos with Thailand,Myanmar and Vietnam's tourism industry.In addition,the tourism value chain of Laos is also separately analyzed through the industrial value chain,and then compared with the travel value chain of Thailand,Myanmar and Vietnam.The full text is divided into seven chapters.The first chapter puts forward the background and significance of the topic selection,compares the research status at home and abroad,summarizes the related theories of the development and competitiveness of tourism industry,reviews existing literature and methods and technical routes.The second chapter puts forward tourism-related theories,including the tour and tourism industry,the theory of regional tourism development,the contribution of tourism to economic development,at the same time,the theory of industrial competitiveness is put forward,including thetheory of comparative advantage,the theory of competitive advantage,the theory of diamond and the theory of value chain.The third chapter studies the general situation of the development of tourism in Laos.The Laos Tourist Resources,several stages of the development of tourism industry,the number of foreign tourists,the country composition of overseas tourists and the consumption of overseas tourists.In addition,the Lao tourism contribution to economic development are introduced,including the number of shares and the tourism industry output value accounted for the contribution of GDP.The fourth chapter uses SWOT to analyze the development of tourism in Laos,Thailand,Myanmar and Vietnam.The advantages,disadvantages,opportunities and challenges of different countries' tourism industry are also discussed of tourism industry in each country.The fifth chapter mainly analyzes the competitive advantage of tourism in Laos.By using the display comparative advantage index(RCA)As well as the value chain of the tourism in Lao,Thailand,Myanmar and Vietnam for comparison between.The sixth chapter is the countermeasures to enhance the competitiveness of tourism in Laos.Necessary to strengthen the development and promotion of tourist attractions,increase the education and training of tourism practitioners,further improve the tourism infrastructure and enhance the competitiveness of Laos regional tourism.The seventh chapter is the conclusion of this study,the innovation and shortcomings of this paper,and the problems to be further studied.
