A Study Of Characteristics And Influencing Factors Of Poverty In Cangxi County

Impoverishment is a special phenomenon that surfaces from regional imbalance and inadequate development.It is not only a regional and structural issue,but also a focus problem that has attracted worldwide attention for a long time.Nowadays,the problem of rural poverty is particularly acute owing to the geographical differences among the East,the Middle and the West,which has become an important issue that restricts China's socio-economic development.In the 18 th National Congress of CPC,the Chinese government innovatively put forward the strategies of taking targeted measures to help people lift themselves out of poverty.As a result,there has been a reduce of 68.53 million population in China's poor rural areas,and poverty incidence has dropped to 3.1%.The strategy of targeted poverty alleviation in the new era have gained more profound and insightful connotations.Meantime,the task of targeted poverty alleviation has become a requisite for building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects,and it is also a basic requirement and a phased goal for solving social conflicts.In the long run,poverty alleviation is a long-term and arduous project systematically.Regionally,China's rural impoverishment is still featured by wide range of and relatively spatial concentration in distribution.The rural poverty issue characterized by large scale,huge population and very depth has become increasingly accurate,and the task of reducing poverty is very arduous.This paper takes the Cangxi County,a state-level poverty-stricken county in the concentrated poverty-stricken areas in the Qin Ling-Daba Mountains determined by the Outline of China's Rural Poverty Alleviation and Development Program(2011-2020)as the research object,discusses the poverty characteristics of Cangxi County from the perspective of the poor population and poor villages,establishes the index system of influencing factors,and explores the spatial correlation between poverty and influencing factors by means of GIS technology,linear regression analysis,and geographical detector model.Based on a scientific analysis of influencing factors,relevant recommendations for the implementation of targeted poverty alleviation policies are proposed,which provides an available and effective reference for a further study of poverty alleviation.This research has mainly achieved the following results:(1)The characteristics of natural conditions,resource endowments,traffic location,and socio-economic location of Cangxi County are highly consistent with the poverty distribution spatially.The rural poverty is featured by aggregated distribution,and there is a significant difference in poverty incidence among villages.(2)By means of multiple linear regression analysis,spatial raster overlay analysis,and geographical detector model,the impact factors of poverty differentiation by altitude,slope,per capita area of cultivated land area,distance from major rivers,and distance from county center are respectively determined.They are 0.1313,0.1308,0.1489,0.0954,0.1690.(3)Based on the previous findings,Cangxi County can be divided into three types of poverty-restricted regions: natural condition constrained regions,resource constrained regions,and economic location constrained regions.A proper categorization of influencing factors and a grasp of the core influencing factors of poverty are necessary to further adjust relevant measures for the implementation of targeted poverty alleviation policies according to circumstances,and the strategy of targeted poverty alleviation and integration of urban and rural development could be in good exercise.
