“The Belt and Road” strategy has brought new opportunities for China's agricultural products on foreign economic and trade cooperation.As one of China's dominant agricultural products,citrus fruits has also ushered in a new opportunity for export trade.Therefore,to subdivide the citrus fruits export markets between China and countries along “the Belt and Road” and then to analyze China's export potential have great and far-reaching significance in improving the international competitiveness and expanding exports of Chinese citrus fruits.This paper carries out the specific research work in the light of the logic thinking of “export status,market segmentation,potential measurement,countermeasures and suggestions”.This paper firstly carries out overall analysis and analysis of 6 different regions on the characteristics and development trends of citrus export trade between China and countries along “the Belt and Road” from 2006 to 2016,and makes a quantitative study about national citrus export trade competitive advantage between China and countries along “the Belt and Road” by calculating the TC index and RCA index.The results show that,Chinese export value of citrus fruits to countries along “the Belt and Road” and share in the import markets of countries along “the Belt and Road” are increasing.The export situation of citrus fruits in China and other regions has been gradually improved,and ASEAN is the most important citrus export partners to China.The trade competitiveness and comparative advantage of China's citrus fruits exporting to the countries along “the Belt and Road” are rising.Then this paper constructs the index system of citrus export markets segmentation in four aspects,namely the basic economic status,market sales potential,market access barriers and national system environment,and uses clustering analysis to classify the citrus export markets of China and countries along “the Belt and Road”.The results show that,the economic development level of countries along “the Belt and Road” is very different,and the economic growth of most countries is slow.The consumption level of per capital citrus is quite different,the import consumption of citrus fruits in ASEAN countries is relatively high,while that in central and Eastern Europe is relatively low.The market access level of the citrus markets is different,and ASEAN and other free trade zones are relatively easy to enter.The citrus export markets of China and countries along “the Belt and Road” can be divided into four categories,including major citrus trading countries,secondary citrus trading countries,citrus trade potential countries and citrus trade development countries.On this basis,this paper combines the main citrus trading countries and secondary citrus trading countries as first types of markets,respectively classifies the citrus trade potential countries and the citrus trade development countries as second types of markets and third types of markets,and then constructs trade gravity model in line with different citrus export markets and calculates China's export potential of citrus fruits to each market.The results show that,three types of citrus markets have three types of trade potential.The first types of markets belong to the mature type of trade potential,the second types of markets belong to the development of trade potential,while the trade potential of the third types of markets needs to be exploited.Among these three types of markets,some countries' trade potential types are not matched to their general markets.Based on the conclusions of the study,this paper puts forward the overall countermeasures and market segmentation suggestions to promote the citrus export trade between China and countries along “the Belt and Road”.The overall countermeasures are as bellow: Improving the quality of citrus products and enhancing the competitiveness of Chinese citrus fruits.Optimizing the structure of citrus export trade and expanding the citrus export market in an all-round way.Increasing government support and creating a good citrus export environment.And focusing on brand building and enhancing the international popularity of Chinese citrus fruits.The market segmentation suggestions are as bellow: Deepening China's trade cooperation with countries in mature potential types,accelerating the construction of trade passages between China and potential developing countries,and promoting the construction of free trade zones between China and countries with potential needed to be exploited.Based on the research of scholars at home and abroad,the innovation of this paper is reflected in the following aspects:(1)In the process of constructing the index system of citrus export markets segmentation,this paper introduces the related indexes of citrus market sales potential,market access barriers and national system environment of countries along “the Belt and Road”,including per capital consumption of citrus fruits,market share of citrus import,import consumption proportion citrus fruits,import tariff rate of citrus fruits,etc,which improve the construction of index system of citrus export markets segmentation to some extent.(2)In the process of constructing the trade gravity model,this paper firstly introduces an influential factor named as Index of Trade Freedom-degrees of countries along “the Belt and Road”,and then calculates Chinese citrus export potential in the basis of different market segments,which provides a new research thinking in calculating the agricultural products export trade potential for China and countries along “the Belt and Road”.
