Research On The Life Satisfaction And The Influencing Factors Of The Older Generation Of Returned Migrant Workers

Since the late 1970s,a large number of young and middle-aged rural laborers have been working in cities.The first generation of migrant workers entering the city was forced to return home due to aging,family care,and other reasons,and thus there was an older generation of migrant workers.The paper combines relevant literature and the actual living environment of the older generation of returned migrant workers to work out a set of questionnaires on their life satisfaction.Random sampling method was used to conduct a questionnaire survey on 137 older generation of returned migrant workers in Sian Town,Pingchang County,Sichuan Province.Through factor analysis,the older generation of returned migrant workers' life satisfaction was clustered into seven common factors:the satisfaction of family relationship,the satisfaction of public service and facility,the satisfaction of physical health and income,the satisfaction of political participation,the satisfaction of living environment,the satisfaction of social security and satisfaction with agricultural production conditions.We find that age,whether household income is increasing,farmland area,whether agricultural production can be successfully carried out,whether to return home because of poor health,or whether to suffer from occupational diseases significantly affect the life satisfaction of older generations of returned migrant workers by the correlation analysis and regression analysis.Then through case study,we analyze the status quo of the migrant workers of older generations of returned migrant workers in terms of their adaptability to life,social interaction,self-income increase ability,and pension expectation,and further explore the influencing factors of their life satisfaction so as to support and improve the conclusions of the study.Through the above research,the paper has reached the following conclusions:in the rural area,the older generation of returned migrant workers is main labor force;their overall life satisfaction is low;economic and health are the main factors affecting their life satisfaction;their human capital is weaker and the capacity to increase income is insufficient;old age issues are the main problems they will face.Finally,the suggestions mainly focus on strengthening the health protection of the older generation of returned migrant workers,increasing their income-earning capacity,and enriching cultural and recreational activities.
