| Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have gradually become an increasinglyimportant driving force in China's economic development. However, due to the blindpursuit of profit maximization, China's SMEs have adopted a lot of short-sightedbehavior in their management, which not only hindered the development of their ownenterprises, but also became a stumbling block that restricted China's economic growth.Hence, it is imperative to lead SMEs to fulfill their social responsibility and promote ahealthy and sustainable development of SMEs.Based on foreign and domestic theories of corporate social responsibility andcorporate growth, this thesis conducts research on listed SMEs. After analyzing andscreening indicators used in previous studies, the thesis carries out an empirical analysisof the data acquired from Hexun network, annual reports of the listed enterprises, CCERfinancial database and CSMAR database by software SPSS17.0with the introduction ofthe cross term between corporate social responsibility and corporate governance. Themain research findings are as follows:To begin with, through correlation analysis with SPSS, it is found that the overallperformance of corporate social responsibility is positively associated with its corporategrowth in the short term and in the long term.Secondly, through regression analysis with SPSS, it is clear that corporate socialresponsibility has the greatest influence on the corporate growth in the current period, and the positive influence decreased in the second year maybe because of cost pressures. However, the positive role of corporate social responsibility will gradually pick up in thethird year. It suggests that to a certain extent there is a time lag between corporate socialresponsibility and positive corporate growth.Thirdly, the introduction of the cross term between corporate social responsibilityand corporate governance plays a regulatory role in the impact of corporate socialresponsibility, and there is a positive correlation between the overall performance ofcorporate social responsibility and corporate growth and the correlation is enhance whencompared to the previous condition.Fourthly, there is a linear relationship between the corporate social responsibilityand its growth after the introduction of the cross-term between corporate socialresponsibility and corporate governance.Lastly, based on the research findings, this thesis puts forward the followingsuggestions: For enterprises, they should:①establish a correct concept of social responsibility;②strengthen cooperation between enterprises;③integrate social responsibility intocorporate governance. For governments, they are well-advised to:①improve the relevant legal system;②promote the disclosure of corporate social responsibility information;③encourage andsupport research on corporate social responsibility. |
