Broadband communication technology will become a hot spot for the development of short-range communications in the future due to its many advantages such as high transmission rates,large capacity,and low power consumption.As RF front-end components,broadband antennas have received extensive attention and research.Base on the open slot structure,this paper proposes several resonant wideband antennas,and studies the relationship between the open-slot structure and the excitation mode,which provides an effective way for the design of open-slot wide-band antennas.The main research contents of the paper are as follows:(1)By reducing the wide side size of the existing open slot antenna design,a rectangular slot antenna with a compact structure and a relative impedance bandwidth of about 40% is proposed.On this basis,by increasing the opening slot,the antenna bandwidth is further widened and a T-shaped slot antenna with a relative bandwidth of about 65% is proposed.Both antennas bandwidth can be adjusted by changing the single resonance frequency,which greatly increases the flexibility of the broadband antenna in the design process.(2)Two mode excitation methods for open slot structures are proposed and two additional resonances are excited in the open slot structure,which greatly widens the impedance bandwidth of the open slot antenna.The detailed analysis of the correspondence between the open slot structure and the mode excitation provides an effective method for designing open slot broadband antennas.(3)A symmetric open-slot antenna is proposed to decrease the directional radiation characteristics of the open-slot structure.Utilizing the studied mode excitation methods,four resonances are generated by the symmetric open slot antenna,and by combing which,the antenna is designed working at 3.1-10.8GHz,which covering the FCC(Federal Communication Commission)defined UWB frequency band.The proposed symmetric open slot antenna not only achieves the symmetric directional characteristics,but also reduces the cross-polarization of the antenna in the operating frequency band.This paper has 48 graphs,5 tables,and 94 references.
