A Study On The Social News Headlines

Taking social news headlines as the research object,this paper summarizes the communication function and discourse function of social news headlines from the perspectives of media and audience,headlines and texts respectively,and expounds the realization strategies of communication function and discourse function respectively.The paper consists of four parts:The first part is the introduction,which mainly describes the research object,research status,research methods and the source of the corpus.The second part analyzes the communication function and implementation strategy of social news headlines from the perspective of the relationship between media and audience.Communication function mainly includes information function,persuasion function and guidance function.The main strategies to realize the information function include the strategy of symbol highlighting,the strategy of theme + adverb,the strategy of quantifier and fuzzy language and the pragmatic presupposition strategy.The main strategies of persuasion are direct speech act strategy and indirect speech act strategy.The main strategies to achieve the guiding function are interrogative pronoun strategy,irony strategy and evaluation words strategy.The third part analyzes the discourse function and implementation strategy of social news headlines from the perspective of the relationship between headlines and text.The textual function mainly includes: generalization function,naming function and attraction function.The main strategies to realize the generalization function include the strategy of deleting components,the strategy of semantic virtualization,the strategy of abbreviation contraction and the strategy of punctuation.The mainstrategies to realize the function of naming include semantic implication strategy,component omission strategy,component translocation strategy and word tagging strategy.The main strategies to realize the attraction function are colloquial strategy,popular word strategy,industry word strategy,figure of speech strategy,suspension strategy,question-answer strategy and direct quotation strategy.The fourth part is the conclusion,which summarizes and arranges the research results of this paper,points out the shortcomings and the future research direction.
