Discourse Analysis Of The Prepared Constitutional Report In Ta Kung Pao At The End Of Qing Dynasty

Since Ta Kung Pao was founded by Ying Lianzhi in Tianjin on June 17,1902,until the end of the Qing Dynasty and the founding of the Republic of China,it has been standing on the side of reformists,vigorously promoting the constitutional monarchy.It is the recorder and promoter of the constitutional movement.Since the implementation of the preparatory constitutional measures by the Qing government,Ta Kung Pao actively published the imperial edicts,officials and provincial news related to the constitutional reform.It also published comments in the form of comments and idle comments,and published letters from people from all walks of life,acting as the supervisor of the constitutional movement.Based on this historical background,this paper studies the specific report of Ta Kung Pao on the preparatory constitutional movement in the late Qing Dynasty from the perspective of discourse analysis.Compared with the traditional text analysis,discourse analysis pays more attention to the analysis of content structure organization and language use of the text itself.By sampling the constitutional reports of Ta Kung Pao,referring to the discourse analysis theory of Van Dijk and other relevant theories,this paper makes a comprehensive analysis of the macro text structure,semantic structure and micro text structure of the preparatory constitutional reports of Ta Kung Pao,trying to reveal the media construction method of the preparatory constitutional reports presented by Ta Kung Pao,that is,how the Ta Kung Pao processes news events,highlights the theme and delivers it to the audience.In addition,this paper also attempts to explore the discourse characteristics of Ta Kung Pao's constitutional reports.Through the discourse analysis of the preparatory constitutional report of Ta Kung Pao,this paper finds that in this period of history,Ta Kung Pao,as the advocator and supervisor of the constitutional movement,has carried out a series of construction on the discourse of the constitutional report,in order to strengthen the publicity effect on the audience.It includes the priority in typesetting,the proportion between the length and the proposition,the conciseness of the news title,the logic of the theme connection,the diversification of the use of vocabulary and sentence pattern,the timeliness of the discourse characteristics,the changeful style,and the strong pertinence.At the same time,there are also some shortcomings including that the structure logic of news report is single,the subjective guidance is too strong,and it violates the principle of objectivity of news.I hope that the analysis of this paper can provide a warning and reference for the development of contemporary media,so as to improve the media's ability to construct news discourse and to guide public opinion.
