MIMO radar is different from traditional radar, because of its unique advantages, many researchers have studied it in recent years. The advantage of MIMO radar is that it can not be bound by the size of antenna and has a high azimuth resolution. This paper reviews the previous achievements of MIMO radar, realizes the design of MIMO radar verification system, improves the shortcomings of MIMO radar, such as large volume, long time-consuming,etc.,and is used for target location and imaging. At the beginning of this paper, the basic knowledge of MIMO radar is introduced.Next,a MIMO radar verification system is designed, which consists of three parts: signal generator module, signal processing platform module and signal transceiver module. In the experiment, each part can be replaced and debugged according to the actual situation. Then, the task and function of three modules in radar are introduced in detail.According to the method of MIMO radar signal generation, the DDS radar signal generator module controlled by FPGA is used, and the circuit design and signal selection of the module are introduced.Next, using the analysis of the overall structure and functional requirements of the signal processing module needed by the MIMO radar, the IF signal processing module and the control center based on DSP + FPGA dual core are designed to complete the signal processing task, and the work flow is described in detail. Then, according to the requirements of MIMO radar system, the design scheme of FMCW signal transceiver and antenna is given. Each part provides the specific implementation of each module. At the end of the paper, the operation of each module of the MIMO radar system is verified, and then several complete imaging tests are carried out together, and the experimental results are given. After careful observation and analysis of the experimental results,it is verified that each part of the MIMO radar is feasible, and the imaging function runs well,so the subsequent algorithm verification can be carried out.
