Ad-hoc network is widely used in scenarios such as emergency communications, military communications,Internet of Vehicles etc,due to its flexible and fast networking, ease of deployment, and good robustness. The routing protocol is the basis of service transmission between nodes in ad hoc network and has a direct impact on network performance. The routing protocols currently used in ad hoc network can be divided into planar routing and hierarchical routing according to the logical structure. This paper takes the clustering routing protocol applied to the ad hoc network as research background.Clustering routing is a kind of hierarchical routing protocol proposed to solve the problem of poor scalability of planar routing, which can effectively reduce the routing cost caused by network size increasing and topology changing. The recent research on clustering network is mainly single-hop clustering. The influence of cluster radius selection on network performance is insufficient, and few cross-layer studies are combined with link layer scheduling mechanism. Therefore, the research focus of the clustering protocol in this paper is the following three points. The first is the link layer scheduling protocol used in clustered networks. The second is the impact of cluster size selection on the performance of the clustering network.Too large or too small cluster radius will cause system performance degradation due to uneven distribution of resources between inner cluster and inter clusters. The third is the issue of transmission for different priority services.Since the application scenarios of clustering protocols are mainly large-scale networks, providing priority support in the design of clustering protocol can better guarantee the QoS of services transmission. In terms of performance analysis, after comprehensive analysis of the link layer scheduling mechanism's applicability to clustering network, this paper selects the link layer scheduling mechanism SPMA based on statistical priority to establish a cross-layer performance model. The hard-core point process modle is applied to simulate the clustering process and quantify the traffic transmitted in the clustering network, and the M/G/1 queuing theory is used to model the SPMA scheduling process. Finally, derive the throughput of the entire network by calculating the slot transmission probability.MATLAB is used to numerically simulate the performance parameters of the clustering network under different cluster sizes. In terms of protocol design, this paper refers to the SPMA's strategies for scheduling different priority services, proposes a middle layer mechanism to receive different types of services delivered by the network layer. The middle layer prioritizes the transmission of high-priority services through scheduling algorithms. Finally, the laboratory's embedded Linux hardware equipment is used to implement and test the designed protocol The test results prove the practicality of the cross-layer clustering protocol designed in this paper.
