Planar tapered slot antenna which has the low-profile structure is a kind of ultra-wideband antenna.Due to its excellent end-fire radiation performance and low cost,easy processing characteristics,this kind of ultra-wideband antenna is widely used in radar monitoring,wireless sensor network,medical imaging,and short-range wireless communication and so on.However,it is difficult for this antenna to maintain stable radiation performance in the working frequency band.And it is easy to generate beam cracks in the high frequency part,which could result in the rapid decline of the antenna gain.Therefore,it cannot meet the requirements of stable communication well in practical application.So,this thesis studies the design methods of the planar tapered slot antenna,in order to achieve the purposes that the antenna gain in multiple octave ranges has no downward trend or maintain stable trend.The main work of this thesis includes:(1)Based on the Vivaldi antenna model,the ways including hollowing out and shape assignment of the dielectric substrate are adopted.By hollowing out the dielectric substrate,the phenomenon that the field is bound and unable to radiate effectively in high frequency is reduced.And by re-shaping the dielectric substrate,the gain in high frequency part of the antenna is greatly improved.(2)The Post-wall slot line transmission technology is applied to the cut-out configuration design.By applying the post-wall slot transmission technology and re-designing the shape of the dielectric substrate between the slots,the antenna can maintain low cross-polarization characteristics while improving the high-frequency gain.(3)Adding the same dielectric slabs to the Vivaldi antenna at the symmetrical position.The influence of the dielectric slabs on the antenna performance is analyzed through the simulation study of each parameter of the dielectric slabs,and the smooth radiation performance of the antenna is obtained in the simulation frequency band.
