Reversible data hiding algorithm(RDH)has been widely used in multimedia copyright protection and content integrity authentication.As a typical RDH scheme,histogram shift(HS)is widely used because of its high quality steganographic images.Most of the existing hs-based RDH schemes utilize the smooth region of the carrier image through prediction and sorting techniques to establish a single sharp histogram for data hiding.In recent years,several RDHs(MH?RDH)algorithms based on multiple histograms have been proposed to make use of the correlation between the contents of different texture images.In this paper,the fuzzy c-means(FCM)clustering algorithm is proposed to construct multi-histogram.FCM is deliberately configured to use the designed features to divide the covered subcarriers(such as prediction errors)into different clusters and use similar features to construct multiple histograms to achieve efficient data embedding.Color image based reversible data hiding schemes show the advantage in integrity authentication.Among them,histogram shifting(HS)technique is hotly researched due to its high effectiveness.To reduce the computation complexity,some empirical search criterions for side information(peak and zero bins),i.e.,two symmetrical peak bins selection criterion,are employed in the HS process,which result in the limitation of algorithm performance,e.g.,low embedding capacity.Therefore,an adaptive side information selection method for various capacity(from low to large payloads)is proposed in this paper and it could determine the nearly optimal combination of side information based on the given payload.Its contributions could be summarized as follows.(1)A multi-feature based sorting technique is designed to further choose smoother areas for data hiding.(2)A specially designed intelligent optimization algorithm is proposed to determine the optimal side information.Experimental results show the superiority of our scheme.
