With the progress of information exchange technology,the information transmission between people is more and more convenient and fast.But at the same time,the problem of information security is also emerging.In the early days,people generally used password encryption to ensure information security.However,due to the continuous upgrading of deciphering technology,traditional cryptography has been unable to ensure the security of information transmission.Therefore,information hiding technology with stronger concealment and better protection effect Used to protect information from attack.By embedding the secret information into the public carrier,the information hiding technology can prevent the secret information from being attacked,so as to carry out safe transmission.However,the early information hiding technology will cause irreversible damage to the carrier when the secret information is embedded in the carrier medium,which makes the information hiding technology unable to meet some special application fields,such as military,medical,legal and so on.For this reason,reversible information hiding technology has been extensively researched and developed rapidly.As a new research hotspot in the field of information security,reversible data hiding technology has attracted much attention and has been widely used in recent years.In this paper,a novel reversible data hiding algorithm with high embedding capacity and low distortion is proposed based on prediction error expansion.Through a selfadaptive algorithm for finding the best embedding parameters,the embedding point that has the least effect on image distortion after embedding secret information in the carrier image is found.Specifically,we first divide the original image into two regions of the same size.Then calculate the local complexity value for each pixel.Furthermore,we calculate the distortion of the image using five parameters,namely the fluctuation complexity threshold,the embedding points around the prediction error histogram and their number.The parameter corresponding to the minimum distortion is the optimal parameter to be sought.Finally,we embed the secret data into the best embedding point on PEH and obtain the best embedding performance.At the same time,because we use the doublelayer embedding method and the number of embedding points can be adaptively selected,the embedding capacity of the algorithm has also been improved.In the comparative experimental analysis,we compare the performance of the algorithm with multiple evaluation indicators of image quality,and test the maximum embedding capacity of the algorithm with grayscale images of the same size.The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can not only achieve high imperceptibility,but also the embedding capacity is higher than other algorithms.Compared with several existing algorithms,the proposed algorithm has higher security and practicability.
