VTS radar is a powerful tool for VTS staff to control sea traffic and it plays an important role in monitoring the safe navigation of ships in the sea,where radar signal quality is a key factor affecting the judgment of the ship navigation status.The radar is affected by the actual working environment and monitoring targets,which may cause multiple reflections of radar electromagnetic waves to generate false echoes and interfere with the accuracy of radar signals,resulting in the existence or large number of false targets in the radar detection system.This paper researched the radar multi-reflection interference false echo problems which have not been effectively solved in the VTS radar system,and proposed the false echo iditification and suppression algorithm based on the composite multiple reflection model.The main research contents are as follows:Firstly,discuss radar detection target method and antenna illumination characteristics,and analyze the characteristics of radar targets' distance and azimuth.Reaearch radar electromagnetic waves reflection characteristics,and analyze the specular reflection and diffuse reflection characteristics to establish specular reflection and diffuse reflection models.This part of content provides theoretical basis for the following research.Secondly,discuss multiple reflection false echoes' types and the cause of formation and take the Zhicheng radar station in Hubei Province monitoring territorial waters as research object.Analyze the false echo characteristics in detail and discuss the causes of different type of false echoes and false echoes' structural characteristics.Research the indirect multiple reflection false echoes and water surface multiple reflection false echoes and analyze positional information of different false echoes with the geometric relationship between the radar station,the real target echoes and the reflectors to establish the multiple reflection models.According to the different false echoes' reflection models,the composite multiple reflection model which based on multiple models is established.Thirdly,analyze radar data format in scanning period.Study the matrix structure of the detection target data to extract the target measurement information and the target echo characteristic information.Propose the false echo iditification algorithm based on composite multiple reflection model,and using feature matching method to identificaten false echoes.According to the false echo feature information acquired by false echo iditification algorithm,a method of setting the adaptive suppression window is proposed to establish an adaptive suppression matrix to suppress the multiple reflection false echoes.The Matlab simulation platform is used to test and verify the algorithms proposed adapts to identify and suppress the indirect reflection false echoes and water surface multiple reflection false echoes in different ship density water environment.Finally,establish radar multiple reflection interferences identification and suppression experiment system platform in Visual Studio environment.The system reads the Hubei Zhicheng radar station data locally,and achieves the data processings including target feature information extraction,false echo identification and suppression,which bases on target detection.Display the radar video images on the human-computer interaction interface.By comparing the radar echo images after the false echo identification and suppression to the radar original video images,the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm can be directly validated.
