With the rapid development of modern electronic technology,the work of microwave measurement has become more and more complicated.The measurement of the target radar cross section(RCS)is considered to be an important part in the field of microwave measurement.The RCS measurement system is the hardware basis for RCS measurement.Depending on variable measurement requirements,the selection of the measurement system and the construction of the hardware platform can be different.Based on the vector network analyzer(VNA),a set of RCS measurement system has been designed in this paper,which can realize multi-dimensional(time domain,frequency domain,polarization domain)high-precision measurement of the target.The performance analysis of the system has been presented as well.The main content of this thesis can be summarized as follows.Firstly,the composition of RCS measurement system is introduced.Combined with the working principle and instrument characteristics of high-precision VNA,an RCS measurement scheme based on VNA is proposed,including single antenna and dual antenna measurement scheme.Besides,the detailed design process,hardware architecture and solution advantages of the two measurement schemes are introduced.Then,the performance analysis of the two measurement schemes is carried out.For the single antenna and the dual antenna measurement system,different error models are established to conduct the theoretical analysis,respectively.The radio wave circuit theory is used to establish the radio wave propagation model for the single antenna,and the influence of the leakage signal on the sensitivity of the system is analyzed.The dual antenna measurement system is modeled with simulation software HFSS for simulation and analysis.The plane spectrum theory is used to simulate the algorithm,and the influence of the direct coupling of the two antennas on the sensitivity of the system is analyzed.The measurement scheme is verified by theoretical analysis method,which provides theoretical guidance for the design and optimization of the measurement system.Finally,the function and performance of the measurement system are verified to demonstrate the correctness of theoretical analysis and simulation.The validation experiment mainly includes the following three aspects,i.e.the experimental verification of the single and dual antenna measurement system,the verification of the dual polarization measurement results,and the verification of the one-dimensional distance image.According to the experimental results,the function and performance of the RCS measurement system can be verified.
