With the rapid development of technology and the continuous improvement of consumer demand,more and more consumers are paying attention to the technical indicators of display screens and put forward more requirements for the performance of displays.As an emerging display technology,multi-primary color display technology solves the technical bottleneck encountered in traditional three-primary color display and has gradually become a key research object in the industry.In this thesis,the multi-primary color display system is studied for many aspects such as the display effect of the display system,and the key issues such as sub-pixel arrangement,gamut mapping algorithm and sub-pixel rendering algorithm are explored.The specific research work of the thesis can be divided into the following aspects:By explaining the changes of the display system in recent years,some current display schemes are introduced.From the perspective of pixel and sub-pixel arrangement,three-primary color display systems based on RGB and multi-primary color display systems based on RGBW are introduced.Several common three-primary and multi-primary sub-pixel arrangements are listed,and three multi-primary color RGBW sub-pixel arrangements are proposed.The above arrangements can be well applied to various display scenarios by different images.For the gamut mapping algorithm of the three-primary color RGB system to the multi-primary color RGBW system,three common gamut mapping algorithms are analyzed and the specific implementation steps of the algorithm are listed by the formula.On this basis,a new gamut mapping algorithm is proposed based on the characteristics of different algorithms.At the same time,using Matlab software to simulate,through the image display effect,the color gamut mapping algorithm proposed in this thesis has advantages in computational complexity and color reproduction.Aiming at the problem of sub-pixel arrangement change and lack of primary color brought by multi-primary color display system,this thesis expounds from the perspective of image compression,analyzes the lack of processing ability of common algorithms for different situations,and achieves better results by improving the algorithm.The idea of improving the compression algorithm is applied to the sub-pixel rendering algorithm.For new sub-pixel arrangements proposed in this thesis,different sub-pixel rendering algorithms are proposed for adaptation,and the simulation is performed by Matlab software to verify algorithms proposed in this thesis.The rendering algorithm is also well suited for complex image display.The FPGA hardware verification platform is built,and the multi-primary color display system is simulated by using the three-primary color display system.The detailed processing of the multi-primary color system is objectively analyzed through the close-up image.The overall effect of the multi-primary color system is subjectively analyzed through the far-view image.The multi-primary color display system proposed in this thesis can work effectively.
