At present,a large number of data and information on the Internet are mostly displayed in the form of HTML pages.Due to the characteristics of the HTML language,the existing large amount of data often does not have a good organization and structure.In addition,there are cases where multiple concepts express the same semantics.Then,the semantic web can not only separate the expression form of the data from the content itself,but also disambiguate the different semantics by defining the common ontology in one domain so as to realize the computer's direct processing and comprehension of the data.The built ontology should not be static,it should keep updating as the data grows.Ontology concept hierarchy organizes the concepts according to hyponymy relationships,and stores massive entities as the instances of the concepts.Therefore,the two most important issues involved in the ontology's updating and expanding problem are the inserting and updating of the new entity and the updating of the definition of the new concept.In this paper,we propose an automatic solution for ontology update by inserting new entities and generating new concepts for concept hierarchy.The method only requires very limited information of new entity,i.e.,the attributes of each entity.The solution is based on a hybrid strategy synthesizing the benefits from the structure of the concept tree and the content of the attributes.The content of the attributes is used to measure the similarity between an entity and a concept.The structure of the concept tree is used to determine which concepts need to be measured.During similarity measurement,the solution also synthesizes the statistical and rule-based factors.After inserting the new entity into the concept,we also distinguish the existence of the new entity with the same name in the concept based on the similarity measure method of entity attribute and attribute value.The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the experiments extending the Chinese and English Wikipedia concept hierarchy with new entities and concepts.
