The development of Internet and the variety of media terminal has brought media consumption to a new era.The widespread of HD and ultra-HD videos,the rise of VR and AR videos and the popularity of various user devices has brought new challenges to traditional media consumption patterns.What's more,the mergence of different network and different terminals has become a new trend,especially for network.The emergence of heterogeneous network will combine the advantages of different network as well as avoid the disadvantages of every single network,thus will bring up wholly new services experience.Users will only need to focus on the service quality under heterogeneous network without caring about the transport details under the network.Thus,the research of providing reliable media service under heterogeneous network will be of great importance.Considering the characteristics of heterogeneous network and the new trend for media consumption and transport,this paper studies the optimization and implementation of media transport on heterogeneous network,mainly on SMT(Smart Media Transport)protocol,which is a typical representative of heterogeneous transport protocol.Firstly we conduct a thorough research on SMT protocol,including the SMT data model,SMT transport protocol and the SMT signaling system.Then we take a deep research in UDP and TCP.And based on this,we come up with a new SMT model based on UDP.To make up for the shortcomings of UDP,we add two functionality modules into the system,namely congestion control module and FEC module to achieve reliable transport on UDP.The congestion control module implements congestion control with both sender and receiver control and this system can achieve good congestion control performance as well as get accurate bandwidth estimation.And considering that different part of media data is of different importance,the FEC module provides adaptive differentiated protection for media data of different importance.And we re-design the architecture of SMT system to fit for the functionality newly added.The optimized system makes use of the low latency of UDP as well as provides reliable media transport and can achieve better performance than existing systems.The second part of this paper is an optimized bandwidth allocation strategy based on user video quality assessment.Unlike traditional bandwidth allocation strategies which only consider the transport characteristics such as transport delay or packet loss rate,the optimized bandwidth allocation strategy focus mainly on the video quality assessment and takes all the users as a whole.Based on the different video content of different users,the optimized bandwidth allocation strategy aims to achieve the optimization of all the users involved.Thus the new system can make better use of the network resources.
