As the rapid development of wireless communications and network technology, more and more wireless access technology have been emerging, at present, each wireless access technology has different advantages in terms of capacity, coverage and data rate, that means, therefore, the next generation wireless networks will be the heterogeneous wireless access and this would take full advantage of the limited resources of various wireless networks to guarantee the reliability of communication. In such a heterogeneous wireless environment, the radio resource management will face new challenges, and the bandwidth allocation scheme should be designed to manage the wireless resources more efficiently and fairly to meet the QoS requirements of multi-users and multi-Services.The dissertation summarizes existing bandwidth allocation algorithm in heterogeneous wireless network, studies the problem of bandwidth allocation for multi-user video transmission in heterogeneous wireless network, and proposes a bandwidth allocation scheme that guarantees the fairness among the users and provides a good system performance. The proposed scheme allocates bandwidth to the video services based on the available bandwidth of different networks and the requirements of different users, which maximizes the utility of each user and determines how to split the total rate among the multiple access networks. With simulations, we analyzed and evaluated the performance of the proposed bandwidth allocation scheme.The problem of bandwidth allocation for multi-users and multi-services in heterogeneous wireless networks is also investigated in the dissertation, and the corresponding bandwidth allocation scheme is proposed. In the proposed scheme, different services choose the most suitable networks based on the match level between the services and networks; bandwidth is allocated to different services via the independent competition between users in order to achieve maximization of each user's utility. By introducing the price mechanism, the proposed scheme can maximize the network resource utilization. Finally, we validated the proposed bandwidth allocation scheme and analyzed the performance.
