Library resources construction is the fundamental work in the university library,and it heavily depends on how to acquire the library resources.The process of library resources acquisition consists of collecting the books need to be purchased,bibliographic information source constructing,possible being-purchased books selecting,purchased books tracking,and collecting the books to the library.As information technology provides the possibility of promoting the library resources acquisition efficiency,there are hurdles on the way to high-efficiency,such as the new requirements for the libraries in the colleges and universities,changes in the readers' requirements,and the agility of the resources acquisition,etc.After discussing the most relevant literature,the paper studies the design and development of university book recommendation system in a university in Shanghai.A decision support model is proposed for the book recommendation system in the domestic universities.At the same time,the algorithm for decision factors is proposed with a practical application.It is conducted for the library in a university in Shanghai that the readers' requirements analysis and the functional requirements.Based on the requirements analysis report,the system architecture and the book recommendation workflow are constructed.A book recommendation system is designed and developed in a university.The main studies of the paper are mainly including the following four aspects.(1)Design and development the decision support model for the book recommendation system.The decision support model for the book recommendation system is composed of the top-level decision support model and the weighted decision support model.The top-level decision support model mainly concern with leading academic discipline of the university,student-faculty ratios,the number of students and the enrollment plan etc.The specific aspects such as the guidelines,the scopes and the directions,of the library resources acquisition determined based on the existing library resources and the resources utilization coefficients.The weighted decision support model determines the weights for different books acquisition based on different readers in the university,such as faculties and students,undergraduates and graduates.(2)Requirements analysis of the book recommendation system.According to the requirements for the book recommendation system from the readers,the specific system requirements in a university in Shanghai are sorted out.The system differs with the other systems on these sorted system requirements.Then the function structure of the system is designed,and the system flow chart is constructed also.These works provide the bases for the following development of the system.(3)System architecture design and module development for the book recommendation system.Based on the J2 EE technology and MVC(Model View Controller)pattern,the system design works are accomplished with Spring framework,Hibernate and Struts2.These system design works include a university in Shanghai library book recommendation system design framework,the software operation process,the module design and the background database design etc.(4)Implementation and testing of the book recommendation system.Based on the previous studies of the system design,the book recommendation system in a university in Shanghai is developed and implemented.The system is tested according the standard testing procedure.A typical function module is employed to demonstrate the testing process.
