Study On The Decision-making Process Of News Production In National Radio And Television Of DRCongo

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo as in several African countries,the decision-making stages of news production in national media agency is often influenced by a number of factors that undermine the quality of the news disseminated.The purpose of this study is to analyze the decision-making process in news production,its stages;sectors or department involved;and factors that influence the decision-making stages of news between collection,processing,selection,dissemination,and evaluation of the news.The study raised one major question and two secondary issues.Three assumptions were also raised.The study used a mixed research approach that combines the collection of qualitative and quantitative data,conducted a literature search to design theoretical models,and conducted a semi-structured interview survey to collect data from a sample of 26 Congolese National Radiotelevision reporters.After analyzing the data,the results of the study were that different organs and actors(authorities and journalists)were interviewed by the National News Agency's news production decision-making process and the public.The collection,processing,selection,dissemination,and evaluation and monitoring of news are all stages of news production.These steps can be regrouping into three steps:design and elaboration of news,news publishing and feedback.Four factors influence the content and quality of news production,especially the political factors,economic factors,social and cultural factors,living and working conditions of journalists.At the same time,respondents put forward countermeasures to improve the decision-making process of news production in the Congolese national radio and television.These results confirmed the assomptions.
