Research On Social Services In The Shun Pao(1932-1937)

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of The Shun Pao in 1932,a series of reform measures were put forward with the aim of "doing practically".The establishment of social and cultural undertakings was an important part of the reform.All these social and cultural undertakings are aimed at promoting public education and are mainly aimed at people in the middle and lower classes.After Shi Liangcai was assassinated in 1934,these cultural undertakings were reorganized or ended operating.With the method of case study and literature research,this paper takes the social service practice carried out by The Shun Pao as the main research object,and analyzes the establishment and development process,social influence,operation characteristics and defects of various undertakings,as well as the interactive relationship between The Shun Pao library and various social undertakings.This paper consists of six chapters.The first chapter introduces the definition of the concept of "social service" and briefly reviews the research status.Chapter two gives a detailed introduction of the emergence,development and main characteristics of various social undertakings such as the declaration circulation library,the declaration journalism correspondence school,the declaration amateur cram school and the declaration women's cram school.The third chapter analyzes the motivation of The Shun Pao to carry out social services:on one hand,it is to promote public education;on the other hand,it is related to Shi Liangcai's practice of national salvation thought.The fourth chapter and the fifth chapter focus on the interaction between The Shun Pao and social undertakings,including The Shun Pao's financial support,manpower support and layout support for each enterprise,and both on personnel,layout and progress tendency of contradictions,and because of the existence of these contradictions,resulted in various social undertakings in the history of death after successive reorganization or suspension.The sixth chapter analyzes the impact of The Shun Pao on social services,from the results of various social undertakings and the outside evaluation of the cause of two aspects:on the one hand,the businesses established by The Shun Pao provide relatively high quality services,by virtue of the influence,financial support and layout support of The Shun Pao,has won the support of many readers and people from all walks of life;On the other hand,due to irreconcilable contradictions between The Shun Pao and various undertakings,various services are not perfect in the actual process of development,causing dissatisfaction and criticism from some readers.
