Media and politics are inseparable.Those shown especially in international news coverage.In some reports,the nation-state implicitly conveys their point of view through the news coverage.Thus,when the international relations between countries are changing,so does international reports are affected.Over the years,relations between China and ASEAN countries have undergone significant changes.Hence,this study aimed at finding the Indonesian edition of China.com as one of Chinese official news website,whether or not heavily influenced by particular views when providing reports on Southeast Asian countries.This research employed a quantitative and descriptive qualitative research design.The purposive sampling technique was used to collect the research data of political news reports about Southeast-Asian countries from January 1st,2011 until June 30th,2018 in Indonesian China.com.This study found that the political news coverage of media has its characteristics in terms of geographical attention,content selection,and emotional feature.Then,further analysis taking on“South China Sea arbitration”issue,as a sample case in analyzing the internal and external characteristics of Sino-Philippine relations,and summarized any possible caused of political news coverage of Indonesian China.com on political events between China and related countries.Finally,combined with the above analysis and related theories,this study has drawn some conclusions on the relationship between political news coverage and international relations.
