Ultra-wideband technology is widely used in radar systems,wireless communication systems,electron detection and electronic interference and increasingly improved due to its advantages.As the transmitter and receiver terminal of wireless signal,UWB antenna plays an important role in various UWB systems.A lot of miniaturization and low-RCS design of UWB antennas have been proposed to fulfill the different requirements of various applications.Based on this requirement,this thesis focuses on miniaturization and low RCS design of Vivaldi antenna.The work completed is as follows:Firstly,the thesis is based on the application value of UWB technology in military and civil.The application background and progress of UWB are introduced,especially Vivaldi antennas.On the other hand,the recently researches focus on the UWB antenna at the both home and abroad have been analyzed.Second,the UWB antennas are designed and researched to achieve the goals of miniaturization and low-RCS.By analyzing the theory and specific structure of the UWB taper slot antenna,a new Vivaldi antenna using ultrathin microwave-absorbing materials at the edges is proposed,which optimizes the surface current distribution of the antenna.So the performance of the antenna and the characteristics of the pattern are obviously improved in the frequency bandwidth.However,through the measurement of the antenna's VSWR and the pattern in the chamber,which can show that the good performance of the antenna meets the target and parameters of the design.Thirdly,the feeding structure of the UWB slot antenna is researched and analyzed.A balanced antipodal Vivaldi antenna using compact feeding structure is proposed,which makes the antenna realize the target of the miniaturization and low-RCS.It should be point out that the simulation and test results can prove that the antenna has good performance and realizes the design target.Finally,some basic commonalities in array antenna design are discussed.The design methods proposed in this thesis can be applied to various kinds of wideband antenna design.Therefore,the designed antennas can be applied to various kinds of line polarized UWB systems.In addition,Good stealth characteristics and small size of the proposed antennas can be achieved at the same time,which can confirm those engineering reference value and application potential.
