As a new generation of wireless LAN standards,IEEE802.11 ax improves the spectrum efficiency and network throughput under dense deployment scenarios,providing users with faster WiFi connection speeds.In this paper,based on the research and development of the 802.11 ax prototype,the soft MAC layer of the 802.11 ax prototype is designed and implemented.The MAC layer of the 802.11 ax prototype is divided into hard MAC and soft MAC,which focuses on low real-time requirements and functionally similar to the wireless network card driver.The soft MAC designed in this paper is based on the open source Linux wireless network card driver named ath9 k.As the hard MAC layer and the physical layer is implemented in a specific platform,the interaction of the ath9 k driver and the hardware need to be shielded.In this paper,the design and realization of soft MAC is divided into three aspects.In the fist aspect,the PC is implemented as the target of STA to access the AP.We analyze the ath9 k driver framework,remove the ath9 k module related to the hardware and modify the data transceiver process.The 802.11 frames transmitted between the STA and AP are encapsulated in UDP packets in the transmission through the cable.We analyze and solve the problems coming in the process of the simulation access of STA and AP.In the second aspect,the ath9 k driver on PC is transplanted to ZC706.To solve the problem that the ath9 k driver can not complete the initialization,the simulation hardware device is created to associate with the ath9 k driver.Some problems are solved during the transplantation and the test verification for the access of ZC706 and AP is completed.In the third aspect,the performance of soft MAC layer is tested and optimized.The soft MAC throughput is tested,and a program for soft MAC optimization is designed and implemented.Finally the test of throughput proves the feasibility of the optimization.In this paper,the realization of the soft MAC part provides support for the subsequent completion of the prototype.
