Research On Health Information Seekingbehavior Of Orphan Adolescent

Based on the snowball sampling method,this study selected 20 orphan adolescents ranging in age 10 to 18 years as samples.The relevant theoretical knowledge of developmental psychology,sociology and information science were combined to explore the health information seeking behavior of orphan adolescent.The qualitative research method was selected in this study.The method of semi-structured depth interview was used to collect data,and at the same time,the coding technology was used to analyze the collected data,finally the model of the orphan adolescent health information seeking behavior and its influencing factors were revealed.The results of this study include:(1)A process model of orphan adolescent health information seeking behavior was constructed.The process of orphan adolescent health information seeking mainly included four stages: initiation,selection,implementation,and help-seeking.Although the orphan adolescents' health information seeking behavioral activities were composed of a series of actions,it was not a series of chronological activities,but a non-linear process that manifested itself as a cycle of different stages.There were four paths: StartHelp,Start-Select-Implement,Start-Select-Ask,Start-Select-Implement-Help.(2)The behavioral features of orphan adolescents' health information seeking were explored in four stages.Specifically,the behavioral motivations were mainly based on the treatment of dangerous health conditions and the prevention or change of undesirable health-behavior;There were two types of seeking: interest-seeking and question-focused.The first one did not have a clear search theme.The problem-focused was concentrated in the orphans' own development.The specific search topics included disease treatment and prevention,health care,body grooming,sex and gender relationship,mental health;The choice of health information sources showed a diversification of sources of personal relationship,a simplification of external information network,a concentration of the mass media;In the specific implementationstage,the search method reflected the diversification of the query objects,the clarification of topics,the simplification of browsing or reading objects.(3)The influencing factors were analyzed.The factors mainly included personal traits and external environmental factors.Personal traits included gender,age,support methods,health literacy,and information literacy;external environmental factors included information environment and living environment.These two types of factors had drastically affected the search topics,the selection of information sources,the determination of search methods,and the methods of seeking help for orphans.
